Asbestos Removal

When a material is defined as containing asbestos fibres, it must be handled under certain regulations.

Any asbestos containing materials whether removed under license or not is subject to being disposed off as hazardous waste.  The environmental protection agency is responsible for the supervision of the disposal of hazardous waste.

They require that notification be given when asbestos containing materials are to be removed off site for dumping and certain regulations must be adhered to.

Asbestos Information

Although asbestos is commonly referred to by colour, the compositions fall into four main types:

  1. crocidolite (Blue)
  2. amosite(Brown)
  3. mixed amosite and chrysotile
  4. chrysotile(White)

Asbestos has been used in industry in the UK since the latter part of the 19th Century.  As a result asbestos-related diseases have grown to become the biggest cause of industrial disease and death after accidents.

Asbestos is a collection of naturally occurring fibrous minerals found in rock formations in particular areas of the world.

Asbestos fibres are needle like and can cause serious harm if inhaled into the lungs.
